No one who knows BPJ labor and employment attorney Jennifer Hagerman would be surprised that she thinks her superpower is persistence.

“My 20 years as a practicing lawyer – and 13 years as a mom – have taught me that almost any problem or issue can be addressed through preparation and research, thinking strategically – and sometimes creatively – and hard work,” she told the Memphis Business Journal, which last month chose her as one of its 2019 Superwomen in Business.

Jennifer’s practice has included high-profile litigation, internal investigations and advising clients on a range of sensitive matters, including employment agreements, compensation, discipline and termination.

She has held many offices in both local and state organizations that support and train lawyers, including serving as a Board Member and Committee Chairman for the Memphis Bar Association and as President of the Association for Women Attorneys. In addition to her legal work for BPJ clients, Jennifer serves as one of just four members of Burch, Porter & Johnson’s management committee.

All of these legal accomplishments led Jennifer to be elected in June of this year as a Fellow in the prestigious College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, an honor that required a spotless practice of at least 20 years, multiple recommendations from both adversaries and friends and a commitment to training, service and excellence.
