Attendees will learn about the pitfalls of the hiring process, including the use of background checks and their impact on negligent hiring claims, common mistakes in setting up payroll and unemployment taxes for new employees, and using onboarding to educate new employees on company culture.  On the termination end, we will discuss the difference between a settlement agreement, a severance agreement and a RIF agreement and the tax implications of each.
