April 4th, 1968 was a day in history that will never be forgotten. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. came to Memphis to lead a worker’s march and prove that peaceful protests were possible. Burch, Porter & Johnson attorneys Lucius Burch, Mike Cody and Charlie Newman met with King and others days before the planned march and were able to persuade the court to allow the march. Hours after the court ruling, King was assasinated on the balcony outside his hotel room at The Lorraine Motel.
