The Ben F. Jones Chapter of the National Bar Association honored BPJ attorney Tannera G. Gibson with their annual A.A. Latting Award. The award is named after Mr. Arvis “A.A.” Latting, Sr. and was presented at the recent virtual Barristers’ Ball. Latting was one of the first practicing black lawyers in Memphis in the 1940’s and known for his scholarship, generosity and mentorship.

Gibson was selected for serving “as a role model in overcoming hardship barriers and achieving success and excellence in the legal profession.” She became the first black female member of Burch, Porter & Johnson in 2017 and will again be a part of history as the first black woman President of the Memphis Bar Association in 2022.
