The United States Department of the Treasury has updated its earlier announcement delaying the April 15th payment date back 90 days to also delay the filing date of all returns for the same 90 days. Taxpayers will not need to request an extension. Further, the announcement clarified that Quarterly tax payments for self-employed individuals are also delayed. This move has been made in order to affect cash flow issues that may arise due to closures of businesses and less consumer spending due to uncertainties caused by the corona virus.
