Reagan Taylor Fondren, Former U.S. Attorney, Joins Burch, Porter and Johnson, PLLC
Reagan Taylor Fondren, a twenty-year veteran of the Department of Justice who served as Acting U.S. Attorney and First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, has joined Burch, Porter & Johnson, PLLC. Fondren will practice in the firm’s governmental investigations, criminal defense, commercial litigation, and municipal law practice groups.
Fondren has extensive trial and appellate experience and has managed complex litigation and trials involving multiple governmental agencies. She began her career in the Office of the Chief Counsel at the Drug Enforcement Agency in 2008. She then served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney first in the District of Columbia before returning to Memphis in 2014 to join the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Western District of Tennessee. In Memphis, she served for three years as Senior Litigation Counsel in the Civil Division, where she defended the United States in various civil cases, including employment discrimination, medical malpractice, prisoner litigation, financial and bankruptcy litigation matters. In 2022, she was named First Assistant U.S. Attorney, the second highest position in the office, before being named Acting U.S. Attorney in September, 2024, a position she held until March, 2025.

A native of Memphis, Fondren earned her undergraduate degree from Spelman College and her law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. In addition to her professional work, she is actively involved in community and legal organizations, including Girl Scouts Heart of the South, the Association of Women Attorneys, and the Ben F. Jones Chapter of the National Bar Association.
