Robert L. Gatewood
A Memphis native and Air Force veteran, Robert Gatewood focuses his practice on litigation and healthcare law. He has litigated 25 successful jury trials throughout Middle and West Tennessee.
He is experienced at Insurance Defense, Personal Injury, Workers’ Compensation, and Healthcare Law, and he is also a Rule 31 accredited Civil and Family Law mediator.
For nearly 17 years, Mr. Gatewood has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Memphis, where he teaches a variety of undergraduate Criminal Justice courses. More recently, he teaches Healthcare Administration Law to graduate students at the U of M School of Public Health.
Before coming to BPJ, he worked as the Assistant Policy Advisor for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department. He also served as Assistant Shelby County Attorney assigned to the Health Department providing legal advice and services, including working with contractors, community partners and the Shelby County Medical Examiner’s Office.
