Maria is a native Memphian and joined Burch, Porter & Johnson in 2023 after practicing for several years in Houston, Texas. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Memphis in 2005, graduated with Honors from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2013 and received an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Houston Law Center in 2015.

Maria’s practice focuses primarily on corporate, real estate and tax matters. She also has significant experience in bankruptcy matters. Maria’s prior employment experience includes the Office of Chief Counsel  of the Internal Revenue Service and the International Tax Department of Ernst & Young, as well as several years in private practice in Houston.
